Rave Reviews For Washington Magic on Yelp

2019 was a great year for Washington Magic! We have made out mark on the DC night life and here’s what people are saying on Yelp about our shows:

“Elegant evening of magic and wine!
The Arts Club of Washington is a hidden gem containing another hidden gem, the roughly-monthly Washington Magic show. Run by high/powered political consultant David Morey and retired DC restauranteur Savino Racine, the entire evening is an enchanting experience.

You’ll want to arrive early for drinks: the Club provides an excellent rotation of wines and cocktails. Drink in hand, enjoy the close-up magic for the 30 minutes before the show. Bring your drink with you into the salon, where the stage and sound system make every seat a good one.

Be prepared for visually stunning magic and mysterious mind-reading, served with lots of audience interaction and humor. The intimate Arts Club space is ideal for this type of entertainment; it feels like stepping back into a more elegant and refined time.

Our audience was a mix of A-list Washington power couples and young people, who were engaged in the show and enthusiastic afterwards. With many good restaurants nearby, Washington Magic makes a great date night, special occasion evening, or attraction for out-of-town guests. With fewer than 100 seats, this may soon become the toughest ticket to get in DC.

There are several inexpensive parking garages nearby, and the Arts Club is only two blocks from the Farragut West Metro (Red Line).”

“My husband and I attended this magic show for a date night a few months back and LOVED it. Delicious food and drinks, quaint and charming historic venue, and a fun night filled with the best local magicians. They are all so talented and it’s obvious from the beginning of the show that they are passionate about magic and have so much fun doing what they love. As someone who frequently grows bored of the usual restaurant and movie date, it was refreshing to go see a live performance and discuss the “how did they do that!?” afterwards. Highly recommend for a night out filled with laughter and wonder!”

“This show is so much fun! The night started out with close-up magic tricks and drinks. The magicians are so personable and invite you to witness their passion for magic. Their energy is contagious. We then had a delicious dinner before the start of the magic show. The venue is beautiful and cozy, and you are able to see the show from any seat. Each magician uses humor in their act as well as audience participation, and they each have their own expertise, which makes for a fun and interesting night. I kept saying “wow!” the whole time! Looking forward to going again and would highly recommend it!”

“My wife and I drove nearly 2 hours each way from West Virginia to attend this show – and it was very much worth the drive!

We arrived just as the close-up magic was starting and we were not disappointed. We moved between three different rooms, enjoying a different type of magic in each parlor.  No two acts were the same – and I suspect this was intentional – to vary the type of magic in each room so as to let us see a little of everything.

Then we were invited to head into the dining room to serve ourselves buffet style. The spinach salad was delicious, the chicken and vegetables were outstanding.  And the desserts . . . the apple pie squares were heavenly. The price included an open bar which was nice, allowing us to have a nice glass of wine with dinner. Water and soda was also available and, because I was driving, I drank Diet Coke for the rest of the evening.

And then came the magic.

Eric Henning was amazing – as always. I’ve seen him perform on several other locations in and around Washington and Baltimore, and I’ll always attend his shows when given the chance and time allows.  Eric’s forte is some of the classics – the ropes, the rings, etc., a true gentleman who harkens back to the classic magicians of yesteryear.

John McLauglin was impeccable. Knowing this man’s “regular” job as provided in the introduction made me wonder how in the world he had time to become so good with magic – but he did! He performed some parlor magic during appetizers, then stole the show when he got up on stage. He took someone’s $100 bill, had them sign it, then made it vanish.  Shortly after, he removed his shoe, pulled a lemon from it, cut it open, and inside was the spectator’s signed bill. Gasps!

David Morey did an amazing routine where he passed out 60 different magazine pages, had each attendee call out a page number, and then he told everyone what was on that page . . . from memory! Incredible!

My wife and I don’t get as many “date” nights as we would like, so when we do, we seek to find something special.  This was definitely special and we will definitely return for another show! And what’s really special is that the next time we go will be a different crop of magicians – ensuring that no two shows are ever the same.

I’d give this 10 stars if the ratings went that high! It was superb!”

“Such a great evening! The up close magic before the show was so cool! The building is a beautiful DC mansion right near Goergetown.

The show itself was amazing! They did a great job of getting the crowd involved and I have no idea how they can do those tricks.

With dinner and drinks included, this is a fantastic value. I definitely plan on going again!”
